okay so i’m a beginner and all i want is to bulk up , but not in my legs i need to be seen in the upper body, then when i’m big enough i can start focusing on the legs. so what kind of advantages does leg workout give, is it good to lower metabolism or raise testosterone level?
yes! My boyfriend has a super big upperbody. But his legs have been neglected, now that hes 26 he has bad knee problems. It is hard for your legs to support all the weight on top.
I have to help my Dad coach 5 and 6 year old girls. I have to do the strength and conditioning. Any ideas?
Please don’t use boring and repetitive things like sprints.
Use fun games to disguise the conditioning they are getting. Here are a few games I’ve used with GREAT success with all the ages I’ve coached over the years (age 4-16):
Clobber: (works on dribbling, conditioning, and passing)
Set up a box with cones. All players except "it" have a ball and dribble around trying to hit "it" with the ball in the legs. "It" runs away from the other players, trying to avoid getting hit. "It" has three lives and each time "it" is hit with the ball or runs outside of the box, "it" looses a life. Whoever was the last player to hit "it" with a ball becomes the next "it."
Freeze: (works on dribbling, conditioning, aggression, and talking)
Set up a box with cones. All players except "it" have a ball and dribble around trying to avoid "it." When "it" taps the top of a player’s ball, or a player dribbles his own ball out of the square, they are frozen. They then stand with legs spread apart holding the ball over their head and call for help. The other dribblers can unfreeze teammates by dribbling the ball through a frozen player’s legs. The last player who got frozen becomes the next "it."

Hello friends, Im wondering if I can find a Niche for what I love doing which is Fitness, Exercise Training and strengh and muscle increase with Nutrition. Where can I make a Niche to be off value to particular group of people? Any ideas
Vlad
Vlad,
You should be more specific in your question- good in gets good out. Are you asking about starting a business? If so, do research- go to the library or book store. Google the terms above and see what others are doing- that will tend to tell you about the market for such things. You real key, no matter what you decide to do is TO DIFFERENTIATE YOUR SERVICE. Your passion is not enough. Also, you MUST read, The E-Myth- Michael Gerber before you attempt to do anything. Running a business "in your niche" is very different than just doing the work you love. You will automatically become an accountant, a lawyer, a manager, a secretary and oh year- a trainer.
One idea is to market to corporations- make a list of all that have fitness facilities- make a presentation and offer free training to executives for 2 weeks- get their buy in and expand to the entire corporation! You’ll need insurance and certification to do so. you’ll also need quality marketing materials and a clear outline of the services you offer.
I’ve been having a hard time getting cardio on days in between my weight workouts so I want to try doing it after i lift. Is that a good idea?
ITS ACTUALLY BEEN PROVEN THAT DOING CARDIO AFTER IS BETTER CUZ U WILL BURN MORE CALORIES RESULTING IN MORE FAT LOSS, NOT MUSCLE LOSS…THIS WILL NOT EFFECT UR MUSCLE GAINS IN ANY WAY…U MIGHT DROP DOWN POUNDS AND IGHT THINK UR MUSCLE GAINS HAVE GONE DOWN CUZ U MIGHT LUK LEANER, BUT ITS CUZ THE FAT IS BEEING BURNED OFF UR ARMS AND BODY…
Did anyone ever base their workout using the Wii fit and/or my fitness coach? if you did, did you lose any weight from it? Is it an okay alternative to like running outside or going to the gym?
Yes it is very good. I lost about 25 pounds! You have to follow the instructions very closely though!
Happy to help.
I have been walking 2.5 miles every other day, doing cardio and thigh slimming workouts. Am I simply overdoing it or is this all part of fitness training..
Cutrightmr: I really believe it IS the thigh slimming workout. Because my legs hurt from the upper thighs to my knees. When I suggested this to a friend, he said, "Walking 2.5 miles was the reason)
Those thigh slimming workouts is what is causing you to barely walk. It is simply your muscles breaking down. They will heal and be stronger, and more lean.
After I do a leg workout, I like the feeling of a challenge to walk. Lets me know I achieved a good workout.
I have a co worker who has generously offered to give me personal training. She herself isn’t a licensed personal trainer but she knows a lot about it. What would be the appropriate amount to pay her?

I’ve read somewhere that doing endurance and strength exercises in the same workout (day) decreases strength gains by %10. Which made me wonder as to what can be defined as strength training and what as endurance. For example: weight training – treadmill – heavy bag training (punches and kicks) – abs exercises.
My heavy bag training, whilst being mainly for technique and strength/speed, is not lower on the cardio ladder than running on the treadmill, as my heart rate goes considerably up.
endurance. If you wer to put heavy weights on your feet/legs it could be stregnth. Howver, kicking is usually endurance. A good measure of whats endurance training is the reps. If you kick the bag 30 or more times, its endurance. If you were struggly kicking it 10 or less times it would be stregnth.
I’m 20, 5′2", 115lbs, 22% body fat. I’m planning on doing 40mins elliptical training and 20mins of jump-roping 5 times a week. My goal is to reach 17% body fat. I was planning on doing an hour of weight training 4 days a week (just for toning up) but I kinda got discouraged ‘coz there aren’t many home workouts and I really don’t have the budget for more equipment. (I have 2lbs dumbells)
I was thinking of skipping weight training altogether and replacing it with an hour of Pilates. What "look" will that achieve? Will it be different than when I’m weight training? And will that affect my metabolism?
Note: I don’t really wanna build muscles. Just wanna firm up.
P.S. Or can you guys refer me to a good (cheap) home workout website? I’ve basically gone to most of them. Thanks!
If you are serious about reaching 17% body fat, you can’t skip the weight training….that will be the integral part of reaching your goal. To reach a body fat in the teens, you have to work on building the muscle. If you just do all cardio, you may well lose weight, but it will be very hard to get your body fat percentage below 20% without weight training.
You also need to make sure you are eating plenty of protein, about 110-120g of protein every day spaced out throught the day into 5 smaller meals. So include low fat, high protein foods such as chicken, turkey, fish, eggs, lean beef/ham, nuts & seeds, beans & pulses and also you can have soya protein products such as Quorn. I’d also recommend a good protein supplement such as Promax or Creatine.
And don’t worry, you can’t build more than 1/2lb to 1lb of muscle per month, so it’s not like you are suddenly going to look like ‘big’ in a couple of months.
I think you are going to need slightly heavier dumbells as well, but that and an exercise ball is all you need. I’d recommend Core Secrets.
Good luck : )
