I want to start strenght training. I go to the gym and work out on the eliptical, and sometimes get on the different machines that have the weights. <–this is in no way organized or thought out, i just hop on which ever one is open and i do a few sets. I would like to include some strength training in my workout routine, but i really don’t know how to oragnize it. Should it be more organized? How should i plan it? How much of each muscle group should i work each day? thanks for any help!

I see workouts that are labeled mass exercises, and I see workouts labeled size/strength exercises. I know many strength workouts so this doesnt make much difference to me. I just want to know the difference in the results the body gets from these exercises.
Does size exercises make the body look different from mass exercises and if so what are the differences, thanks alot.
Sounders FC coach Sigi Schmid quotes from Friday training
I was the only reporter on hand to ask Seattle coach Sigi Schmid questions after a rainy training session on Friday. The team staff listened in on the first question (and could send out a release on that later), but the second two Q&A’s are exclusive.

Conditioning is one of those words that gets tossed around a lot to mean one thing, but in reality, it means so much more.
For many people, when they think “conditioning,” they think cardio. This could be in the form of LSD (Long Slow Distance) jogging, interval training/sprints, skipping rope, etc – activities that get you breathing hard and sucking wind.
“Cardio” entails cardiovascular and cardio-respiratory conditioning, or, in other words, the ability of the heart to efficiently pump blood through the body, and the lungs to efficiently take in oxygen and discard carbon dioxide. If you’re not sure what this is, go outside and sprint to the end of the block and back as hard as you can. Go ahead – I’ll wait. . . Great, you’re back. Are you breathing hard? Thought so. This is cardio.
However, that is only one element of overall conditioning.
Next, there’s muscular conditioning. This is the ability of a muscle (or group of muscles) to contract repeatedly over a given period of time. If you’re not sure what that means, hit the floor and do as many pushups as you can. Go ahead – I’ll wait again. . . how was that? Likely you’re not breathing as hard as you were from the run, but your arms and chest are probably burning pretty bad – much more so than your legs were from the sprint. That’s muscular conditioning.
Then there is strength/power conditioning. This is sort of the next step after muscular conditioning. Now, instead of your muscles just having to contract repeatedly (were the amount of force they have to produce isn’t an issue), they’ll have to contract at near maximal force repeatedly. Or, in other words, how many times (within a given period of time) can you lift a weight that’s really close to your maximum?
So, if repping out on pushups was muscular conditioning, loading the most you can bench press onto the bar minus 15% or so and doing as many reps as you can with that would be a measure of strength conditioning.
And along those lines, a power-based movement (say box jumps) done for max reps would be a measure of power conditioning.
To have complete conditioning, you must train all these elements – not just cardio, as many people would think.
Train Hard, Rest Hard, Play Hard.
Imagine that you had one of the world’s top chest coaches coming to your house every day. Well, if he turned up on your doorstep in person it could cost you a small fortune. But if you’re a man boob sufferer then you can still get his services for just a fraction of the cost.
Depressing==But if you have it, gynecomastia or man boobs, can be very depressing. Normally you?ll want to cover up on the beach, or not go to the beach at all, keep your shirt on at all times, wear loose-fitting clothes to disguise your body shape and stay away from women at all costs. It’s not surprising that you’d need a top chest coach to help you out of this misery. Depression is serious in all sorts of ways too. You can find that as your levels of depression increase, so your performance in all sorts of areas of your life may well decrease. You probably won’t want to go out with friends. Your performance at work might well suffer. Depression is serious – you need to deal with it before it takes hold.
Personal coach==Now to have a personal fitness coach come to your house or maybe your place of work is going to cost you a minimum of $50 per hour. It?s roughly the same if you see a fitness coach at a gym. To have a noticeable effect on your body, you’ll need probably a couple of sessions a week. You do the math. And the problem with fitness coaches is that they very seldom specialize in the very special area of gynecomastia. They?re normally interested in increasing muscle bulk, increasing your stamina and general fitness. All very laudable, of course, but not what you?re looking for.
Specialized coach==You?ll need a specialized man boobs chest coach who can teach you how to control your hormones (hormones lie at the root of the problem), what dietary changes to make and a number of specially designed chest exercises. You’re in luck. All of this can be had via the web from one of the top chest coaches in the world today. If you take control of the problem yourself, then you don?t need expensive house visitors and you?ll start to see results in no time. .
