I am 24 and 5 foot 5 and about 130 pounds (female). In the last year I have gained almost 20 lbs. I am okay with the weight gain, I needed some meat on my bones! But I don’t want to continue to gain more and get fat. (I’m not fat now, I am about a size 6-7 in women’s pants) I would like to actually start toning some things up and increase my cardiovascular strength.

Although I want to do this, I am absoultly clueless. There are too many diets and weight plans to choose from. How do I know whats right for me?

I read somewhere that running affects the results of strength/weight training by not gaining as much muscle as you would if you just strength/weight trained by itself.

Is this true or not? Why does this happen?

Also, if this is true would alternating these exercises (Mon. Wed. Fri. running. and Tues. Thurs. strength) prevent this?

Thanks in advance.
